Diversity in the "Field" of Business

Although many think of business as dressing up in a suit and going to a 9-5, there is a dirtier side of business not many think about. Every time we enjoy an apple or take a bit of a steak countless sales calls and other business moves went into producing that food and moving it from farm to table.  Most do not think of a fertilizer, seed, and chemical salesman as the stereotypical business man. However, these men and women work hard in order to buy and resell products that farmers need.  As an agricultural business major, I see a great combination between business and agriculture.

Although most don’t wear a suit to work, there are little differences between agbusiness and conventional business. Both work with clients for a mutual benefit.  Agbusiness men make sure that they keep their customers happy by visiting farms, personally checking on the crops, and even giving discounts and perks for doing business with them. Similar to a small business owner meeting with customers, making sure they are happy with their product, and offer incentives when product is purchased.

All in all, business is all around us at a times all times in all different forms. From the corn field to Wall Street almost all parts of our lives are associated with one form of business to another.

     Business is in our everyday life. However, not everyone can succeed, because it needs us to do a lot of things. First, we need to have a plan. It contains teamwork, process, strategy and development. These are required if you want to succeed.

     In fact, in business, few people can own a person's efforts to be successful, so people usually in the form of team to start a business. From the beginning to the successful needs a long process. People need to do lots of strategies, gain experiences from failures and do it better and better. Just like the graph in the image, from zero to one hundred needs a gradual process. During the process, people may have progress or setback, but anyway, don't give up. After doing these four things well, you can be successful.

    From the piece of fiction pictured above, the author wants people to believe business is just a field dominated by men. Although that might seem correct, women are on the rise in the business field. From an article about women in business, you can see there are more women in the workforce than ever before. It also shows that women hold 16.9% of the board seats at fortune 500 companies today as opposed to 11.7% in 2000 and 9.6% in 1995. ("Women in Business") Also the author of the political cartoon wants people to believe women have a "glass ceiling". This means women only can go so far in a career while men continue to advance on their "escalator" in the same career. Although this may seem correct as well, there are many other stats showing how women are doing just as well as men in a male dominated work society.
